Welcome to my blog!

I want St Paul's to broaden and deepen its reach in the community, not just to serve better the needs of the existing congregation but to reach out in our ministry to a wider audience.

So please go ahead, ask me any question you like! To get in touch, just click here!

I've always considered myself a very approachable person, but I recognise that many may be hesitant to approach me -- maybe it's the robes, maybe the dog-collar -- maybe it's just the beard!

I'm proud of the work Carol has done in Haiti, and I wish I could have been there.

I was sent these photos from National Geographic and would like to share them with you

Your questions, my thoughts

Q: What would Jesus have thought about the internet? What would his Facebook page say? How many followers would he have on Twitter?......

A: An interesting and timely question. Jesus was very much a people person. He embraced the technology of the time, yet he did not let rules and regulations and tradition triumph over individual people’s concerns and needs. Think of how many times he defied the establishment in healing on the Sabbath, or eating with so-called sinners. I think either he would have a FB page or his followers would have put one up. I think he would have used it to communicate his message and to convince his followers (disciples) to make more “friends”. On the other hand, I doubt if he would have spent a lot of time on the add-ons, playing games in imaginary worlds. While he was not against enjoyment and rest and recreation, he used his time to advantage, knowing really how little time he would actually have. Would his website manager be Peter or John or Luke, it is fun to speculate. Remember everything Jesus did was aimed at pointing people towards God and not to himself personally, but as the Son of God. Perhaps that would have been his FB handle: Son of God.  As far as the internet per se goes, I am sure he would have approved of it because it is a creation of the powers of intelligence that are God given and like many such talents, they are designed for good, but can be used for evil. Thanks for asking.  Blessings.   Father John+
